Scottish Coal Carrying Championships 2026

The Scottish Coal Carrying Championships will take place on Saturday 29th August 2026 in Kelty, Fife.

Race Categories :

• Adult Men's Race : Age 18 and over : Carrying 50 kg of Coal over 1000m,.
• Adult Ladies Race : Age 18 and over : Carrying 25 kg of Coal over 1000m.

Junior Races (Under 18): - ENTRY WILL OPEN NEARER THE TIME

• Primary Schools Race Boys/Girls : Entry confined to age 8-11 and must carry 5kg sack of coal.
• Secondary School Race Boys/Girls : Entry confined to age 12 & 13 and must carry 10kg sack of coal.
• Upper Secondary School Race Boys/Girls : Entry confined to age 14-17 and must carry 15kg sack of coal.

Routes:

• Adult Races : Start at approx. Flower Street and end at the finish line (which is between Moray Institute & Kelty Primary)

Adult Races : £25.00

There is an option to add a donation of either £5, £10 or £15 to your entry.

Chip timing only for the Adults races.
